The IM890 32.768khz MEMS Real Time Clock (RTC) Targets Board Space Reduction by Eliminating Multiple 32.768khz Frequency Control Devices and Load Capacitors

• The IM890 32.768khz RTC reference is actually an LVCMOS oscillator therefore if you have your board laid out and your microprocessor requires two or more 32.768khz quartz watch crystals, the 2 x 1.2 mm IM890 can reduce that component count to one.
• The IM890 32.768khz RTC reference being an oscillator means you do not need load capacitors on your board like you would using 32.768khz quartz watch crystals. If you had three 32.768Khz quartz watch crystals, you would need six load capacitors. Using the IM890 32.768khz RTC reference, you would need ZERO load capacitors. This will save cost and board space.
• The IM890 32.768khz RTC reference is also more accurate than a typical 32.768khz quartz watch crystal. A typical 32.768Khz quartz watch crystal runs at +/-150ppm or worse at -40+85 deg C operable temperature range. The IM890 32.768khz RTC reference runs at +/-100ppm from -40+85 C.
• The IM890 32.768khz RTC reference is a low current draw, drawing 1.4uA maximum under no load.
• The IM890 32.768khz RTC reference has 30X more shock/vibration resilience than a 32.768Khz quartz watch crystal.
• The IM890 32.768khz RTC reference will meet and exceed any automotive standard with PPAP documentation support
